EV rebates still available in Canada (2026).

Here's what's actually still available for a new EV like the Model Y Standard in Canada, starting with the federal program and then Ontario.

Federal: Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP)

Point-of-sale incentive for new eligible EVs bought or leased (12+ months) from February 16, 2026 to March 31, 2031, or until funding runs out. Final transaction value must be $50,000 or less unless the vehicle is made in Canada, and it must be made in Canada or a country with a free-trade agreement with Canada. Individuals get one incentive over the five years. (Transport Canada)

Ontario

No provincial purchase rebate (Ontario's ended in 2018) and no province-wide home charger rebate. Some local utilities run time-limited smart-charger programs; check yours. What Ontario does give you: green plates for solo HOV use and free HOT lanes, and very cheap Ultra-Low Overnight electricity.

Condos and apartments

Natural Resources Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program funds chargers for multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces and public sites, not detached homes. See charging at a Toronto condo.

Other provinces

Some provinces have their own programs (for example Quebec, Manitoba and PEI per EV North) Unconfirmed. Check your provincial government's site.

Outside Canada

US: the federal clean vehicle tax credit ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. UK/Europe: incentives vary by country and change often.

I film all of this on my own 2026 Model Y Standard. Watch on The Electric Standard on YouTube.
