Charging a Tesla at a Toronto condo or apartment.
Living in a condo or apartment in Toronto doesn't rule out a Model Y Standard, but it changes the plan. Here are the options, in the order I'd try them.
1. Ask the building
Talk to your condo board or property manager about an EV charger in your spot or a shared charger. Natural Resources Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) funds chargers for multi-unit residential buildings, which can help the board say yes.
2. Workplace or nearby public Level 2
Ontario has thousands of public charging ports (ontario.ca). Level 2 at work or near home can cover a week of GTA driving.
3. Superchargers
Works, but costs several times more per km than home charging; see Supercharger cost per km.
Rules
Any install in the building needs an ESA permit and a licensed contractor. Condo-specific approval rules are set by your corporation's declaration and by-laws Unconfirmed.
I film all of this on my own 2026 Model Y Standard. Watch on The Electric Standard on YouTube.
