Best Tesla Model Y settings for new owners.

Here's the short list of settings I'd go through on day one in a new Model Y Standard. Your menus may differ slightly with software updates.

Day-one checklist

  1. Create your driver profile and save seat and mirror positions.
  2. Set up Phone Key and turn on Walk-Away Lock.
  3. Turn on PIN to Drive.
  4. Set your charge limit; Tesla's LFP guidance is to charge to 100% regularly Unconfirmed.
  5. Set Scheduled Departure or a scheduled charge to land in Ontario's Ultra-Low Overnight window (11 p.m.–7 a.m.).
  6. Pick your stopping mode (Hold for one-pedal driving).
  7. Enable mirror tilt in reverse and auto-fold.
  8. Format a USB drive and turn on Sentry Mode.
